One of the greatest things about bass fishing is the amount of choices you get to make and planning that goes into it all. From the rod and reel you are using, all the way down to the line and type of lure there are thousands of options available. However for new anglers or even those that have been doing it for a while the amount of different combinations to choose from can feel overwhelming (and trying them all out can get expensive).
I created this site to help people save time and money by picking the right lures and focusing on techniques that have a high chance of success. In fact, every technique that the lure selector recommends is one that I personally use and has worked for me, and if you were to add them all up you would have a list of every lure that I throw. As a result you might notice that there are some techniques that it won’t recommend. That’s actually by design as my goal for this site is to provide enough options to keep the average person that has a full time job (or is a full time student) busy for a while without suggesting too many lures or suggesting techniques that I’ve found are inconsistent in terms of the amount of fish they produce.
I also keep an eye out for new products and try new tackle out all the time, however a significant amount of the items I try out aren’t necessarily ones that I would recommend. In some cases it might be because I have concerns about the quality of the product, however it’s usually because I’ve just found other lures that I personally prefer and have more confidence in. Either way while I might try a lot of new products out, I’ve decided to limit my reviews to the ones that I personally like and believe will work well for others.
Having said that, the site itself has a few different sections:
- Bass Fishing Articles – These are posts about bass fishing itself and not necessarily about specific rods, lures, etc. Many of these posts will be about ideas that I’ve had or things that I have learned over time that I felt like sharing since I think they might help other people out as well.
- Tackle Reviews – These are posts about the specific rods, reels, lines, hooks and lures that I have tried out. Please note that while I have tried out a ton of different products and continue to try new ones out all the time, this site is a bit different from most of the other sites out there because I only review the ones that I like, and any of the products that are reviewed on this site are ones that I would genuinely recommend to other people.
- Lure Selector – I also created a free lure selector that you can use to help decide on what lure to throw. If you are new to bass fishing or just feeling lucky and want a computer tell you what lure you should use (without having to pay an annual subscription fee) then you should try it out and any lure that it suggests is one that I use personally.
In summary, this site has several resources that you can use to learn how to catch bass, or to get better at it without breaking the bank. My goal will always remain the same – to help you land more bass.
