If you are reading this page for the first time you might be asking yourself “what on earth is a rage rig?” If you are that’s actually a fair question as this particular rig is not one that I see mentioned very often. In this case it’s actually a smaller version of an old setup I found while watching old bass fishing videos on youtube called the rage rig. There’s more information on that rig in the video I linked in case your interested, but in this case this is basically just a mid size rage bug instead of a full size rage bug paired with a 3/0 Owner weighted twistlock CPS hook.
This thing is awesome in ponds but you could theoretically throw it anywhere. One of the best things about the rage bug is it mimics both a crawdad and a bluegill, which are two of the things bass feed on the most. Since the midsize version of the rage bug is smaller than the normal version this lure can do very well if there is a lot of pressure around and the bass are hanging around the bottom of the pond or lake you are at. This lure is also does very well if there is grass or cover around, and although I’ve only started using it recently it has already become one of my confidence baits.
