Large Weedless Swimbait

an image of a 5" scottsboro tackle swimbait

For the purposes of this website when I say a large weedless swimbait I’m referring a 5″ swimbait that is texas rigged on a swimbait hook. I currently like the Scottsboro Tackle Swimbait in the natural light color since it looks like a shad but also has a bit of chartreuse in it. You can catch fish with this lure throughout the year, and like other weedless swimbaits I prefer to target shade pockets or areas around docks with it although you can certainly throw it in open water as well.

As is the case with other larger lures, you probably aren’t going to catch as many bass with this lure, but if you do get a bite it’s usually going to be a bigger fish and this can be a good size to start out with if you are new to throwing larger swimbaits. This particular swimbait is also hand poured by a smaller company, so it looks very good (the pictures almost don’t do it justice) and it also isn’t as expensive as some of the other swimbaits out there and so I think it’s a pretty good value.
